How to customize your USB or External Hard Disks ?
First you need to know is that there are 2 important files
1 Desktop.ini
2 Autorun.inf
Desktop.ini File is used to set the background for your USB drive root folder.
Autorun.inf File is used to set the Icon for the USB.
To Set Background Image
Open Notepad.exe
and copy following code
[{BE098140-A513-11D0-A3A4-00C04FD706EC}]
ICONAREA_IMAGE=ICON.JPG (name of your desire picture to be your background)
ICONAREA_TEXT=000099
ICONAREA_IMAGE=ICON.JPG (name of your desire picture to be your background)
ICONAREA_TEXT=000099
then save it as "Desktop.ini" without quotes in the root folder of your USB.
Imp : Icon.jpg must be in your root folder.
To Set Text colors you can use following code for respective colors for the value of ICONAREA_TEXT

FFFFFF – white
AAAAAA – grey
0000FF – red
3366FF – orange
00FFFF – yellow
00FF00 - green
AAAA00 – blue
000000 – black
003366 – brown
800080 – violet
FF00FF – purple
FFFFFF – white
AAAAAA – grey

3366FF – orange
00FFFF – yellow
00FF00 - green
AAAA00 – blue
000000 – black

Change the Icon of USB or CD-ROM, DVD-ROM
Simply open Notepad.exe and type in the following syntax:
[autorun]
[autorun]
icon= iconfilename.ico (name of your desire picture to be your icon)
Then save this file as "Autorun.inf" without quotes and put this file in root folder.
The Icon file must be in the root folder and with .ico extension.
Done..!!!
Whenever you plug your USB or Ext. HDD you will see the new icon to that drive.
