- Until now the bootable CD's were to be made manually with insertion of some of low-level tools for Reading or Writing on Disks.
- The Utility application such as BOOTISO and DISKIMG were used to read most of the bootable disks and to write images to disk files form the CD's.
- These disk images then gradually been edited and manually started adding to the CD layout.
- It has now become much more easier and quicker, with lots of CDR writer software application packages able freely and also on paid basis to make the bootable CD's from a certain compact disk image, a hard disk or an image file.
- Some of the popular software application packages are Easy CD Creator, Win-OnCD, CDRWIN, HyCD and Nero.
- The Nero is one of an extremely powerful tool and widely used application that offers complete control of the CD burning, and can create effective bootable CD's for many platforms. It can also create “oversized” CD's which are used in-case to obtain a certain amount of copyright protection.
- Many of these applications can be checked before purchase by having a trail version of some of the products for limited period, and this is advisable due to the wide options available in CD Reader and Writer drivers and hardware.
